Flood Hazard Mapping - Old Crow

How do I participate?

You can participate by reviewing and providing feedback through this website. The online public engagement will be open between February 3 and March 3.

What is this engagement about?

Feedback is welcome from knowledge holders familiar with local flooding conditions. Local knowledge can occasionally contribute to refinements in the maps where the data inputs did not fully capture real conditions.

We are also seeking feedback on the map format, and whether there is additional information that other levels of government or the public would like provided, so that the final maps can be used easily in decision-making.

How will my input make a difference?

Your feedback will help ensure that the final flood hazard maps for Old Crow are accurate and reflect the local and traditional knowledge and lived flood experiences in the area.

Once the draft flood hazard maps are finalized, they will be used by the public and all levels of government to make informed decisions regarding flood preparation and mitigation, land use planning and emergency management.

Where can I find results?

Feedback gathered through the online engagement and in-person events will be consolidated into a What We Heard report and posted to yukon.ca/en/engagements

The final flood hazard maps for Old Crow will be released on the Government of Yukon’s Flood Atlas and available to the public by summer 2025.
