Purpose of the trip

Minister Silver attended the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) annual summit, held in Whistler, British Columbia, as the Government of Yukon’s representative, as well as one of the two Canadian Vice Presidents for PNWER. Among attending meetings in his position as the Yukon’s delegate, and as PNWER’s Canadian Vice President, Minister Silver was elected at this annual meeting by members of its Board as President of PNWER Canada. Among meeting with other pacific northwest legislators, the United States Consul General in Vancouver, and industry representatives across the region, Minister Silver also presented on a session regarding the changing arctic, and opportunities and challenges for the region, amongst other northern representatives and experts.
