Stakeholders and local governments interested in community economic development are coming together for a three-day conference in Watson Lake, April 17-19.
Federal, territorial, municipal and First Nations governments, businesses, entrepreneurs, development corporations and non-governmental organizations will discuss challenges, successes and opportunities around local economic development. Approximately 65 delegates are expected to attend.
The conference, organized and hosted by the Government of Yukon, provides a platform for the exchange of information and best practices, which helps to support Yukon’s communities in achieving their economic goals. The governments of Yukon and Canada will have booths providing information about funding opportunities and other supports.
Sharing information, best practices and bringing fresh ideas to the table is an essential part of growing and diversifying our economy. This conference will bring together stakeholders interested in economic development to collaborate and support each other in achieving their economic goals.
We are very pleased that this economic development conference is taking place in the traditional territory of the Kaska people. As we move forward it is our great desire that industry, government and First Nations will be able to come together and grow our local economies in a way that benefits us all.
Bringing our communities and stakeholders together for this conference is an excellent opportunity to support our efforts to advance our individual economies and develop our shared common goals.
