Twelfth Yukon resident dies of COVID-19

The Yukon’s acting Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. André Corriveau has reported another death of a Yukon citizen from COVID-19. This brings the total to 12 since the first death was reported in October 2020.

There are currently 166 active cases of COVID-19 in the territory.

I am very sad to report this loss. To see another Yukoner lose their life to COVID-19 is heartbreaking. My sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of this individual. Out of respect, we will not be releasing any additional information.

Testing and vaccines

The acting CMOH is reminding everyone who has symptoms to get tested, no matter where they are located. If you live outside of Whitehorse, please contact your local health centre. If you have medical questions, please call 811 to speak to a nurse.

To help meet the increased demand for testing, a drive-thru testing facility is open in Whitehorse. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., seven days per week. The testing facility is located at 91628 Alaska Highway, in the Centennial Motors wash bay,across from the airport. No appointment necessary.

COVID-19 symptoms reminder

Anyone experiencing any of the following symptoms should self-isolate and arrange to be tested immediately:

- fever
-  chills
- cough
- difficulty breathing
- shortness of breath
- runny nose
- sore throat
- loss of sense of taste or smell
- headache
- fatigue
- loss of appetite
- nausea and vomiting
- diarrhea
- muscle aches
