Statement from Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn on Mount McIntyre Infrastructure Upgrades

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn has issued the following statement:

“On July 20, our government, together with the Government of Canada and the City of Whitehorse, announced funding for two projects at the Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre: ventilation and heating upgrades as well as general centre improvements like new windows and exterior doors. These upgrades were a priority identified by the City of Whitehorse and so we are pleased to help them bring this to fruition.

“Built in 1980, Mount McIntyre is a beloved gathering space and recreation facility, especially for the cross-country skiing and curling communities who call the centre home.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the Government of Canada for providing over $7.5 million for the completion of both projects. We are all truly thankful for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program and Canada’s continued investments in the Yukon.

“The Government of Yukon’s contribution of more than $1.8 million reflects our commitment to providing spaces and opportunities where Yukoners can live healthy and active lifestyles."
