This morning, Commissioner of Yukon Angélique Bernard awarded the Governor General’s Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal to 10 members of the Yukon Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team at Shipyards Park in Whitehorse.
The Commissioner and award recipients were joined by Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn, Yukon EMS management, members of Yukon EMS’s allied partner agencies at the Fire Marshal’s Office, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Whitehorse Fire Department, as well as their friends and families.
This national award recognizes the good conduct, industry and efficiency of professionals who have provided pre-hospital emergency medical services to the public in an exemplary manner for at least 20 years.
Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2021 Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medals. Your hard work and dedication to helping others are remarkable and I am so proud to present you with these medals.

Operational Supervisor Jon Trefy received additional recognition for his outstanding 30 years in the service and was awarded the inaugural Jon Trefry Award for his unwavering dedication to representing Yukon EMS positively in the community.
